Become a Professional Wedding Planner

So we talked about becoming a Wedding Officiant, what about wedding planning?

If you’re ready to step up your game and deal with Bride & Groom Zillas you’re in luck today! There are plenty of ways to break into the business, with or without any type of certifications. You need to have a handle on sales, marketing, and event planning.

Where to start

There are quite of few event planning schools, and while its’ not a requirement to be certified, it does show your potential clients that you know the business. No matter what field you’re in certifications are good for business, believe me, I have a ton! Your first step should be to hop over to the American Association of Certified Wedding Planners even if you’re not American it’s a good place to start researching your new side hustle.

What it’s like

Through my research, I have seen that some people love it and some hate it, most swing back and forth creating a love/hate relationship with their chosen trade. Long days, weekends, holidays, and the Zilla couples can make this a harsh gig.

That isn’t to say that most of us don’t have the same type of love/hate relationships with our jobs. I know Attorneys, General Managers, and Nurses who absolutely love what they do but hate certain aspects of it.  *Someone wrote, “Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life”.  I think that someone is full of crap. Even as much as I love digital marketing and blogging, I work my ass off and it’s exhausting!

*Authors Note: There is a lot of debate over who to properly credit for this adage. Feel free to investigate further and let me know what you find!

This Planners Lounge article gives us a behind-the-scenes look at Wedding Planning.  #8 knocks me right out of the loop! I am not a people person. Planning my own wedding was insanity, and having children that may eventually marry is terrifying enough!
